The road trip to North Luzon will soon be faster come November 1 since the first segment of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) is reportedly due to open on that day.
The information was revealed to us by someone from within the consortium that will operate the expressway, during our cover shoot for the November issue on the completed section of the highway. According to our source, only the Gerona and Victoria interchanges will initially be open to the public.
While the November date overshot by three months the projected opening which Toll Regulatory Board spokesperson Julius Corpuz told TopGear.com.ph in June, it does hit the target date set by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
If the construction of the TPLEX remains on schedule, the completed expressway all the way up to Rosario, La Union, should be operational by July 2014, following the target set by the DPWH.
