The third round of the 2013 Hyundai Lateral Drift Championship held last weekend at Clark International Speedway saw a first for the long-running drifting series as the setting sun prematurely wrapped up the pro division\'s run.
Although the practice sessions started early in morning, the intermittent rains that day not only delayed the entire event but also made it difficult for drifters to get a perfect run.
For the amateur division, Luis Gono clinched the victory in the final tandem run when his opponent, EJ Malibiran, spun out, relegating the latter to second place. Micki Florida took the last step of the podium in third place.
In the pro division, first- and second-round victor--and Pilipinas Got Talent Season 4 finalist--Gio Rodriguez failed to make it to the final four, while another fan favorite, David Feliciano, was also denied a podium finish when he spun out in an earlier tandem run.
Due to the delayed start of the race proper, the organizers were forced to finish all the runs early because of the setting sun and equally distribute all the points from first to fourth places among the top four drivers: Boodie Dabasol, Audel Sison, Alex Perez and Ralph Tan.
The fourth round of the 2013 Hyundai Lateral Drift Championship will be held on October 26 at Aseana City on Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City.
