Meet Alex Brown, a Filipino-British karter based in Singapore. This young lad has the looks that can instantly nab TV commercial modeling gigs, but he seems to prefer grabbing podium finishes in karting and racing instead.

In the video above, the 12-year-old tells us about his karting accomplishments, motorsport aspirations, and racing idols. Be amused as he tries to speak some Tagalog phrases, too.

Like any other car-loving kid, he flipped through a copy of Top Gear Philippines with delight during the shoot. When asked about his favorite car, he answered: "Ferrari LaFerrari."

"What's your dad's favorite car?" we asked him, assuming he got his love of cars from the head of the family. Alex turned to his mother, Tessa Dimaano-Brown, perhaps to look for an answer. Tessa also shrugged. "He and my mom are not much into cars as I am," the boy replied. Both parents, however, are still supportive of Alex's karting and racing dreams. In fact, whenever the family goes on vacation, a visit to a track is included in the itinerary. Alex brings with him his helmet and other racing essentials, and sneaks in a practice session.

"We let him pursue karting because he's doing well in school," Tessa told "That was our deal. We all know that motorsport is not an inexpensive pursuit, so he has to earn it. If he does well in school, he continues karting. If he doesn't perform well in school, mag-badminton na lang sya."

That's good parenting right there.

Well, we wish Alex all the best, and may he continue to keep up the good school and on the racetrack!
