Winners emerge from the first round of the 2021 Toyota GR GT Cup

The stakes are getting higher

And just like that, we’re on the next one. The first round of this year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup has come to a close, and potential winners for the 2021 season are beginning to emerge.

For the first leg, racers took to a virtual Autodromo Nazionale di Monza—the world’s oldest circuit, located in Northern Italy—to show off their skills behind the wheel. In the Junior Class, Russel Cabrera took the top spot after maintaining his lead throughout the race’s final minute. David Marquez, who finished with a race-best 2:02.5, placed second, while John Paul Veloso finished in third place. The Promotional Class, meanwhile, ended the first leg with Jether Miole confidently besting the rest of the competition.

Now, on to something a little more high-stakes. The Sporting Class, which is comprised of racers representing e-sports teams, saw returning racer Terrence Lallave besting Luis Moreno and Estefano Rivera (who finished in second and third, respectively) to claim the top spot on the podium for round one.

For the second round of the series, organizers are implementing a 1.5 score multiplier to raise the stakes and will be offering higher-value prizes. Racers who are still interested in joining to re-qualify can still do so at the official Toyota GR GT Cup website. Planning to do so?
