Last April, Subaru unveiled the all-new Impreza and announced that it would go on sale in the United States in the latter part of 2011. As it turns out, it would be much, much later than expected as the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March 2011 has affected the car's production.

"Yes, there has been a delay," confirmed Subaru of America product communications boss Dominick Infante to "But Impreza production will begin in September."

At the all-new Impreza's unveiling at the New York Auto Show, the Japanese carmaker announced that the car was to go on sale in September.

Infante assured though that the Impreza's on-sale date will not be pushed back beyond the current year, adding that the "cars will be in dealerships in November."

The Philippine market, however, will have to wait a little bit longer.

According to Nicky Mariano, general manager of Motor Image Pilipinas, the carmaker's authorized distributor in the Philippines, the all-new Impreza might not even make it to what is being planned as its ASEAN market launch at the Thailand International Motor Expo in December.

Mariano added that even if the ASEAN market launch of the Impreza continues as scheduled, we will most likely see it reach Subaru's Philippines showrooms in early 2012.
