Subaru has finally unveiled at the LA Auto Show the two-door sports coupe it has built in collaboration with Toyota nearly two years after the latter's FT-86 made its global debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.

Known initially as the BRZ, Subaru has given its version of the sports car a good helping of its iconic STI performance brand, thus giving the car its name as the Subaru BRZ Concept-STI.

The BRZ Concept-STI sports a hexagonal lower front grille, hawk-eye headlights and fin-shaped fog lamps, making the front fascia instantly recognizable as Subaru. The STI-made lower front spoiler and rear wing magnify downforce and aerodynamic performance for more stable driving and excellent handling at high speeds. The bold rear fender flares, large rear diffuser and twin dual tailpipes intensify the STI performance feel. Completing the STI package are the lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels with matching performance tires and the tuned suspension with excellent lateral stiffness.

The BRZ Concept-STI makes use of a carbon-fiber roof not only to reduce the weight of the car but also the lower its center of gravity even further which ultimately contributes to the handling performance of the car.

Topping the BRZ Concept-STI's look is its WR Blue Pearl II exterior color, which is a new generation of Subaru's iconic WR blue paint scheme to emphasize its racing image.

Powering the BRZ Concept-STI is a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine that's developed exclusively for BRZ. Combined with Toyota's D-4S direct injection technology, high-performance output and high-environmental standards were both attained as expected of a new generation sports car.

We've heard the production version of the BRZ Concept will reach the Philippines a year from now. Will you be placing an order then?
