Over the weekend, 339 Subaru vehicles gathered in Itasca, Illinois to claim the Guinness World Record for the longest parade of Subaru cars.

Various models of the Japanese brand, from the short-lived Baja pickup and SVX coupe to mainstays like the Forester, Impreza and Legacy, gathered in Itasca, roughly 40 kilometers northwest of Chicago, to set the record.

Guinness World Record Adjudicator, Carlos Martinez, presented Guinness World Records certificates to Tom Gehrke of Subaru of America and to Chief Bob O'Connor, representing the village of Itasca.

The official Guinness certificate states that, "The record for the longest parade of Subaru cars was achieved by Subaru of America, Inc. Great Lakes Region in partnership with the Village of Itasca at 500 Park Boulevard in Itasca, Illinois, USA on 11 July 2009."

The record-setting gathering was also staged as a charity event as Subaru of America donated $3,500 each to Salute, a non-profit organization for war veterans, and to PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) Chicago.
