If you've been waiting for Suzuki to come out with the next-generation Swift, the long wait is over as the Japanese carmaker is set to launch it on July 2.
According to our source who's familiar with Suzuki's local lineup, the all-new Swift is equipped with a 1.4-liter engine that comes with variable valve timing and electronic throttle control, and produces 94hp and 130Nm of torque.
Despite having a smaller-displacement engine compared to its 1.5-liter predecessor, the all-new Swift is said to be even more nimble and stable, qualities that the previous-generation Swift was praised for. Credit goes to the newly refined wide-tread, short-wheelbase dimensions, greater rigidity in the body and suspension mountings, and greater roll stiffness.
The all-new Swift will be available with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission at P729,000 and P769,000, respectively.
We've driven the new Swift and brought it to Baler recently. Watch for Top Gear Philippines' August issue for the story. We can't post the photos here yet, so we're posting instead images of right-hand-drive units from abroad.
