Nissan introduces Safety Shield to Note compact MPV

First of its kind in the class

Nissan has introduced its Safety Shield suite of technologies to the Note compact MPV as part of its commitment \"to introduce useful and accessible technologies.\"

The Safety Shield is a network of three innovative safety features that combine to provide drivers \"with exceptional visibility and protection.\"

Unlike similar systems that rely on multi-camera setups and radar systems to monitor movements around the car, all three elements of Nissan\'s Safety Shield work using just a single, wide-angle rear-view camera.

The Safety Shield consists of the following systems:

Blind Spot Warning: If a vehicle is detected in either blind spot at the rear of the vehicle, a warning light illuminates in the Note\'s side mirror. If the driver indicates changing lanes and the system detects a vehicle in the danger area, the light flashes and an audible warning is given.

Lane Departure Warning: An advanced computer program detects even faint road markings, allowing the car to determine if it is drifting out of its lane without indicating a lane change. If it is, a warning is given to the driver to correct his road position.

Moving Object Detection: The system gives an audible and visual alert if someone or something is moving behind the car, like a child walking behind the vehicle while it is reversing. Images from the camera are displayed on a 5.8-inch screen.

Do you think we\'ll ever see Nissan\'s Safety Shield on our local models, especially now that Nissan Motor Company of Japan is coming back to the Philippines?
