Mitsubishi Motors Philippines will soon take the 3.2-liter variants of the Montero Sport and Strada off the lineup and push the freshly-launched variable-geometry turbo (VGT) variants to be the range-topping vehicles for both models.
"We're phasing out the 3.2-liter variants this year to make way for the new VGT-equipped variants," said Arlan Reyes, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines' assistant manager for advertising and promotions. "Once we've exhausted our supply of the 3.2-liter variants, the 2.5-liter VGT-equipped variants will become our high-end models."
Reyes added that Mitsubishi is offering a sizable discount to those who will purchase the 3.2-liter variants as the Japanese car company makes room in its inventory for the VGT-equipped vehicles. The 3.2-liter Montero Sport GLS SE 4x4 and GLS 4x4 are currently sold at P1.72 million and P1.48 million, respectively. The 3.2-liter Strada GLS Sport 4x4 (AT) is at P1.305 million and the GLS Sport 4x4 (MT) is at P1.265 million.
Mitsubishi Philippines expects to keep its dominance in the sport-utility vehicle market as it eyes to sell 1,200 units of the Montero Sport with VGT this year. It targets to sell 450 units of the similarly-equipped Strada.
