Volkswagen videos drive fun in eco-friendly lifestyle

Volkswagen has been making waves in the virtual world since it released videos under a viral marketing campaign dubbed The Fun Theory.

The videos intend to relay the message that cars can be good for the environment while being fun at the same time through Volkswagen's BlueMotion Technologies. BlueMotion is the a brand of products and technologies that make Volkswagen vehicles more environment friendly.

"As traditional advertising is becoming less effective, and the competition in the market for environmentally sound cars is becoming more fierce, we believed we needed a more innovative approach to draw attention to BlueMotion," said DDB Stockholm deputy manager Lars Axelsson as quoted by the Los Angeles Times. DDB Stockholm is the ad agency tapped by Volkswagen for The Fun Theory campaign.

As part of the Fun Theory campaign, the public may submit their own videos on how the fun factor can make a difference in how people do things for a cleaner and greener planet. Deadline for the submission of entries is on November 15. The first prize winner gets €2,500 (roughly P170,000).
