Earlier this month, former Formula 1 driver and one-time Manila visitor David Coulthard achieved a Guinness world record with professional golfer Jack Shepherd for catching the farthest golf shot in a moving car.
In only the second attempt of the day, Coulthard caught the golf ball while driving the SLS AMG Roadster. The golf ball had been driven by Shepherd 275m from the tee at a speed of 286kph when Coulthard caught it while going as fast as 193kph.
"The only way to track the ball was to keep your eyes on it all the time," said Coulthard. "It's a real adrenaline rush but it's not the most comfortable thing to do because for a moment, you're not watching the road. I was as happy as I’ve ever been winning a Grand Prix because I was so surprised quite frankly that it went in, and went in so solidly!"
The stunt was part of a viral film--which you can now watch below along with a behind-the-scenes video and a continuous single-shot version--that was made for Mercedes-Benz UK.
Incidentally, the record-setting feat was achieved at the Dunsfold Aerodrome--more popularly known as the Top Gear test track--in Surrey in the United Kingdom.
