Every major Japanese automaker has, at some point in its existence, built a car that eventually went down as a true JDM legend.
Nissan has the Silvia and the GT-R, Mazda has the Miata and the RX-7, Honda has the S200 and the different Type R and Integra generations, Toyota has the Supra, and Subaru has its STIs. For Mitsubishi, it was the Lancer Evolution. All generations of it.
The Evo, as it is also known across the car community, is perhaps one of the most coveted and highly respected JDM icons. To this day, there’s still quite a lot of them on the road here in the Philippines—even if many of them are but cheap imitations—and there’s one in particular that’s probably more popular than most: Ramon Bautista’s Lancer Evolution VI.

Ramon wears many hats—comedian, social media personality, filmmaker, YouTuber, and even professor—but one of the biggest he dons is the one written ‘car guy’ all over it. He’s an avid car nut and has been a proud Evo owner for a decade now. Like the Evo he owns, he’s one of the respected and beloved personalities in the local community.
For this episode of Cars We Love, we go on a quick drive with Ramon to talk to him about not just his Evo but also the story behind his passion for cars. He also shared how he believes cars should be driven and not babied too much, as well as some valuable insights about project cars and the like.
We know it’s been a while since we had an episode of this series, but note how this differs from our previous uploads—it’s now in a in a YouTube-friendly and viewing-centric horizontal format. Moving forward, expect to see more of the same, and of course, more content like this.
