Report: \'Gran Turismo\' to be made into a movie by Sony Pictures

The Gran Turismo franchise is purely a racing-simulation video game, with no back story whatsoever. That, however, doesn\'t seem to matter to Sony Pictures since a movie based on it is reportedly in development already.

According to Hollywood news site TheWrap.com, Sony is already working on the movie which will be produced by Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, the same producers behind the movie adaptation of the Fifty Shades Of Grey trilogy.

Apparently, Sony is looking to cash in on one of its biggest video-game titles, following DreamWorks Studios\' adaptation of Need For Speed and Legendary Pictures\' development of a Hot Wheels-based movie.

It certainly looks like we have The Fast & The Furious to thank for the sudden proliferation of car-racing movies.
