Following the successful entry of the Benelli TRK 502 in the midsize adventurer-tourer category last year, it immediately captured the interest of weekend adventure seekers because of its strategic pricing. Now, the Philippine distributor of this Italian motorcycle brand has announced the availability of the restyled 2020 TRK 502X in our market, and we’re sure it’ll draw the attention of local buyers in this segment.
The refreshed model sports new graphics and a different texture for the side panels and the radiator cover to highlight a more aggressive stance than before. The redesigned handlebars are now adjustable to provide a comfortable riding position without compromising safety. Likewise, the clutch lever may be adjusted based on the rider’s preference.
A new pair of side mirrors proudly show off the TRK logo, while a restyled seat offers a more comfortable perch for long-distance travel. The exhaust has been repositioned near the tail; previously, the standard TRK 502 had the pipe fitted under the brake pedal. The revised setup gives the X variant a big advantage in terms of ground clearance. A solid engine sump guard also comes as standard, making the bike off-road-ready.
The 2020 model retains the previous 500cc DOHC liquid-cooled, in-line-two engine it shares with the Benelli Leoncino Scrambler series. It generates 47hp at 8,500rpm and 46Nm at 6,000rpm. This chain-driven machine also comes with a wet-sump lubrication system, a wet multi-plate clutch, and a six-speed gearbox. Stopping power is provided by double discs in front and an ABS-equipped single-disc setup in the rear.
A sturdy trellis frame with steel plates provides decent stability even in challenging road conditions. The whole thing rolls on a 19-inch spoked rim with 110/80 rubber in front, and a 17-incher wearing 150/70 rubber in the back.
Here’s the catch: The 2020 Benelli TRK 502X is priced at P379,000, making it P20,000 more expensive than the TRK 502. We can’t wait to see it locking horns with the Honda CB500X, priced at P413,000. Which is the better buy in your opinion?
