KTM has just launched the 690 Rally, a spiritual successor to the 640 Adventure of the late ’90s and early ’00s. The rally-raiding machine takes the 690 Enduro R’s platform and transforms it with extended range, stability, and long-distance use in mind.
At the heart of the 690 Rally is the 692cc LC4 single-cylinder engine. It’s the largest single-pot in KTM’s lineup, ideal for demanding off-road use with 77.9hp and 73Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission and has a Braktec clutch system with an optional quick shifter.
Like a true rally-raider, a dedicated rally tower houses the 4.2-inch TFT display and integrated windshield. The bike has selectable ride modes, including Rally Mode, which lets riders adjust throttle response and traction control depending on the terrain. Additionally, two fuel tanks with a total capacity of 20 liters allow for longer adventures through remote areas.

Suspension is handled by a WP Xplor inverted fork with 265mm of travel up front and a WP Xplor shock with Pro-Lever linkage and 250mm of travel at the rear. To handle loose terrain, the 690 Rally has Continental TKC 80 tires wrapped on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheel setup. Stopping is taken care of by Brembo brakes equipped with cornering ABS and cornering MTC. There’s also Offroad ABS, which only disables the system on the rear wheel.
KTM says this bike was “designed to perform across everything from technical off-road terrain to high-speed liaison sections.” Tipping the scale at only 161.5kg, the brand adds that the 690 Rally “bridges the gap between lightweight enduro agility and rally-level endurance.” KTM hasn’t announced the bike’s official pricing yet, nor whether or not it will arrive on our shores.
