2012 Lateral Drift season kicks off this weekend

Now in its seventh season, the Philippine Lateral Drift Championship Series is kicking of its first round in 2012 at the parade grounds of the Quirino Grandstand this Saturday, July 28, from 1pm to 8 pm.

The 2012 season will have six rounds, with four being staged in Metro Manila and two at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. Over 40 drivers from all over the country will be competing for the championship in both the amateur and pro divisions.

Audel Sison, last year's pro class champion, will be defending his crown against the series' top drifters like Gio Rodriguez, Raymond Ronquillo, Atoy Llave, Boodie Dabasol, Pacho Blanco, Ryan Agoncillo, and five-time champion Alex Perez. Giving these professionals a run for their money is last year's rookie of the year Ralph Tan who's moving up to the pro class this year.

The amateur division will see new drivers from Pampanga and Metro Manila joining the series.

The series will also have two new judges in former AF3 champion Pepon Marave and ex-karting champ JP Cariño. Joining them as the third judge is Lateral Drift co-founder Mon Rayos.

So, if you've got the time this weekend, we suggest you check these drifters out. After all, admission is free. See you there.
