An alleged car smuggler is currently facing charges after the Bureau of Customs found she misdeclared two high-end vehicles as "used furniture" while being taken out of the Port of Davao.
The vehicles, a GM Hummer 2 and a Toyota Tundra, were in a container shipment from Japan, ABS-CBNNews.com reported.
The vehicles were said to have an "assessed value of over P1 million," and were "misdeclared" by businesswoman Aiza Magallanes Makig-angay.
"For trying to save some money by cheating the government, Makig-angay now stands to lose the equivalent of more than P3 million she spent on her car importation," Customs commissioner Angelito Alvarez said.
