Organ Donor Registry at the LTOFeel like giving up your organs in case--God forbid--you meet a car accident that takes you six-feet under? You may soon have to inform the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to do this.

Rep. Godofredo V. Arquiza of the Senior Citizens party list has filed a bill seeking the periodic update of organ donor information through the transport agency.

House Bill 7039 or the "Organ and Tissue Donation Registration with the LTO Act of 2009" is aimed at making a donor registry and improving the access of Organ Procurement Organizations to valuable organ donation information.

"This would enhance and implement the Organ and Tissue Donation Act of 2009 and require the LTO to indicate and include such information about Organ and Tissue Donors in every drivers license card," Arquiza said.

The Organ and Tissue Donation Act of 2009 was passed to help save lives by securing organ and tissue donations and transplants from people who chose to become organ donors.
