Camaro lovers have a reason to rejoice as The Covenant Car Company, Inc., or Chevrolet Philippines, is now offering the more powerful Camaro 2SS in the local market.
The official distributor of Chevrolet vehicles in the Philippines said the V8-powered Camaro comes in the six-speed manual transmission variant with an output of 426hp and 570Nm of torque, and in the six-speed automatic transmission variant that produces 400hp and 560Nm of torque. To keep the driving experience even more leisurely, the V8 engine utilizes General Motors’ Active Fuel Management technology which allows it to operate using only four cylinders during light driving conditions like highway cruising to improve its fuel economy.
With the bigger engine block, the V8-equipped Camaro 2SS runs zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.6 seconds, 1.6 seconds faster than the V6 Camaro’s record.
The Camaro 2SS comes with the standard equipment found in the V6 like the StabiliTrak Stability Control System with traction control, speed-sensitive auto-lock, Boston Acoustics premium sound system, power adjustable pedals and brake and a tire pressure monitoring system, plus a performance suspension upgrade, power sunroof and four-piston Brembo brakes on all four wheels.
A source from Chevrolet Philippines said the V8 Camaro 2SS sells for P4.300 million while the 2LT V6 Camaro is still available at P3.089 million.
Update: Chevrolet Philippines said only the six-speed automatic transmission-equipped Camaro 2SS is for sale, not the six-speed manual transmission variant.
