CAMPI members release March sales figures

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI)--together with the Truck Manufacturers Association--has released the official sales figures of its members for March 2012. According to CAMPI, the aggregate sales of its members in March totaled 13,631 units, slightly down (by 0.9 percent) from the 13,750 units sold in the same month last year. The total includes 9,290 commercial vehicles and 4,341 passenger cars. It should be noted that these figures do not include the sales of non-CAMPI and non-TMA members, like Hyundai, Chevrolet, Subaru, Volvo and Mini.

Year-to-date sales (January to March) are now at 32,608 units, down 9.9 percent compared to the first three months of 2011, when CAMPI members sold a total of 36,184 units.

Some carmakers sold more in March this year compared to last year, including Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Honda, Kia and Suzuki. But the others suffered a significant dip, particularly Ford and Nissan.

The sales figure for CATS Motors is split between Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. According to CATS, it sold 35 Mercedes-Benz units in March and 23 Chrysler vehicles.
