Last month, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) launched its ‘I Love Isuzu’ campaign with a series of contests and prizes for its loyal customers. During the event, the carmaker also teased the public with the announcement of the Isuzu D-Max Boondock’s comeback.

We last saw this special edition back in 2009 and 2010. And just a few days after the teaser was shown during the ‘I Love Isuzu’ event in Alabang, we were able to see the pickup in the metal last week.

Isuzu Philippines invited some members of the media to climb Mount Ulap, and part of the convoy to Baguio was none other than the Isuzu D-Max Boondock. A fitting car launch, if you ask us.

“As mentioned during the I Love Isuzu campaign a few weeks ago, we are bringing back some of the well-loved Isuzu models that we have introduced in the past and one of them is the Boondock edition,” shares Joseph Bautista, IPC’s sales manager.

The new Isuzu D-Max Boondock will be available in 4x2 manual and 4x2 automatic variants. No word yet on the future availability of 4x4 units. It is also equipped with the 3.0-liter 4JT1 turbodiesel generating 177hp and 380Nm.

Some of the goodies added by Isuzu to the new D-Max variant are high-performance suspension equipped with monotube nitrogen-charged performance shock absorbers, a set of 17-inch black alloy wheels, and 265/70 Yokohama tires. As for exterior add-ons, the unit has a roof rail, overfenders, rocker panels, a cargo extender, a bedliner, and a special Boondock Edition sidestep.

And the price? Well, we’ll have to wait for Isuzu’s official launch on May 25, 2019. But for now, feast your eyes on these Isuzu Boondocks.
