Good news for Filipino car buyers looking for a China-made ride: BAIC has just added two new offerings to its lineup--a compact crossover, and an MPV.
The BJ20 is described by the Chinese carmaker as a "rugged and edgy" SUV offering. It made its global debut back in 2016, and flaunts a 215mm ground clearance and large 18-inch alloy wheels. It's front-wheel drive, but BAIC says it's more than capable of tackling a little flood and will remain smooth over uneven surfaces. The company calls the car a "soft-roader."
Under the BJ20's hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of 147hp and 210Nm of torque mated to a CVT. Below are its prices:
*BAIC BJ20 1.5 CVT Standard – P1,148,000
*BAIC BJ20 1.5 CVT Luxury Edition – P1,288,000
Next up we have the M50S, a three-row MPV. Described as both a "refined people mover and ruggedly versatile utility vehicle," this vehicle can come with either seven or eight seats. It's rear-wheel drive, and packs a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that puts out 114hp and 150Nm. Check out the prices:
*BAIC M50S Luxury (either seven or eight seats) – P638,000
*BAIC M50S Ultra Luxury (seven seats) – P668,000
The M50S looks particularly appealing if you're looking for a brand-new ride on a tight budget. So, would you drive home any of these new Chinese offerings?
