ACMobility, and BYD Cars Philippines have committed to donating four vehicles for disaster relief and rescue. With help from the Ayala Foundation, three units of the newly released BYD Shark 6 DMO pickup and one BYD Sealion 6 DM-i SUV will be used for disaster response and other relief efforts.
The trio did not mention which exact organizations or government agencies will make use of the vehicles or where they will be stationed. Along with the four cars, ACMobility and BYD Cars Philippines will also be donating rescue equipment and water filtration supplies.

The announcement was made at the launch of the BYD Shark 6 DMO, and one of the donated units was put on display. An ‘Aurora White’ Shark 6 was dressed in red and blue ‘Rescue’ decals, and emergency lights were mounted on its roof. Another set of emergency lights was placed behind the grille, right below the big BYD letters.
The full list of modifications has yet to be announced, but from the stock numbers alone, a Shark 6 could already be a capable disaster response vehicle. Its 700mm wading depth makes it a decent floodbuster, along with a payload capacity of 835kg and a towing capacity of 2,500kg for hauling relief supplies and gear.

Not to mention the pickup’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capacity of 29kW around its four onboard outlets. That should be enough juice to keep radios, cellphones, and other smaller devices charged throughout power outages.
We didn’t get to see the Sealion 6 DM-i in its disaster response uniform, but we can expect the same modifications as on the Shark 6. Last year, ACMobility and BYD Cars Philippines promised to donate $100.00 (P5,739.6) for every Sealion 6 sold from July to December 2024. The duo marked 2,669 Sealion 6 units purchased in 2024, although we don’t exactly know how many were sold in the mentioned timeframe.
