Late last year, The Covenant Car Company Inc. (aka Chevrolet Philippines) quietly launched the Chevrolet Malibu midsize sedan during its Motorama event in SM Mall of Asia. Back then, there was only one variant of the sedan, which is equipped in our market with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder dual-VVT gasoline engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The lone variant at launch was the Malibu LTZ, initially priced at P1,498,888. We have no idea how well the sedan sold, but today Chevrolet Philippines is announcing that there is now an additional (and lower) Malibu variant called the LT. Also, the LTZ's price has been adjusted. Here now are the updated Malibu variants and their prices:
* Chevrolet Malibu LT - P1,398,888
* Chevrolet Malibu LTZ - P1,528,888
Chevrolet Philippines points out that the Malibu comes with a five-year warranty and free three-year 24/7 road assistance.
So, if you're in the market for a new midsize sedan, and you want to steer clear of the usual suspects (Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda 6 and Nissan Altima), you might want to check out the Malibu.
