After various previews across the past few months, Denza Philippines has officially launched its newest pair of hybrid 4x4s: The B8 and the B5. These two models land in the Philippines as off-road-ready, plug-in hybrid SUVs that cater to the more luxurious side of the market.

Let’s start with the bigger one: the Denza B8. This SUV boasts a classy, boxy physique with a hint of ruggedness courtesy of hefty claddings on the exterior. The design is almost retro-like, with the spare tire at the rear adding to the look.

The inside of the B8 is packed with premium materials and plenty of creature comforts. There’s a sheer abundance of leather, with various textured surfaces adorning the dash and side panels. There’s a massive 17.3-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster up front. The second row features captain seats that are complemented by a cooling/heating box that slides open from under the front center armrest towards the rear. This box can be set to as cold as -6 degrees Celsius or as warm as 50 degrees Celsius. The B8 also gets an additional third row of seats.

Powering the Denza B8 is a 2.0-liter gasoline engine paired with two electric motors. In total, it puts out 603hp and 760Nm of torque. It packs a 36.86kWh BYD Blade Battery that enables a maximum EV range of 115km. Together with a full tank of gas, the combined maximum range is listed at 1,040km.

As for the Denza B5, it has a slightly less beefy yet still rugged exterior. It looks very similar to the B8, but not only is it smaller, but it does away with the black plastic claddings underneath. On the inside, its front row is almost identical to that of the B8, but the second row is completely different. The B5 is only available as a five-seater, without the premium comfort seats in the back.

Under the hood of the B5 is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with two electric motors. Output is a bit higher at 677hp but torque remains the same at 760Nm. On battery power alone, it can reach up to 100km, and together with a full tank of gas, it can do 975km.

Both of these vehicles come with all-wheel-drive setups and are equipped with various off-road-oriented features. There are a number of drive modes at the ready, as well as plenty of driving information available through the touchscreen head unit. Both Denza SUVs are capable of driving through floods, but the B8 benefits from deeper water-wading capabilities—it can do up to 850mm, which is 150mm more than that of the B5.

Only one variant of the Denza B5 is available at launch, and it’s priced at P3.798 million. The B8, meanwhile, comes in two trims, with the Premium trip stickering for P5.398 million and the Dynamic for P4.998 million. All three options will come with a P300,000 cash discount until April 26, 2026 for those who make their purcase at the Denza Arena at ASEANA City.

It’ll be interesting to see how these new hybrid Chinese SUVs will fare against the traditional premium offerings. What do you guys think of the all-new Denza B8 and B5? Tell us what you think in the comments. Stay tuned as well for more of our content on these two new SUVs.
