The fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson has just been revealed, sporting a boxy shape with rugged styling. While that design is definitely in vogue, the compact SUV is still undoubtedly Hyundai with H-shaped headlamps and matching taillights.
The Korean carmaker calls this design philosophy the ‘Art of Steel,’ as it incorporates more futuristic and industrial motifs throughout its shell. This is most evident on its thick front and rear bumpers and its expansive side skirts.

With these components, it certainly looks much larger and wider than the previous-generation Tucson while still retaining a compact crossover frame. Specifically, the new model measures 4,700mm long, 1,905mm wide, and 1,685mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,785mm, making it 60mm longer, 40mm wider, and 20mm taller than its predecessor. Its wheelbase has also grown by 30mm.

Inside, the Tucson gets an equally radical change with an entirely new layout. The digital instrument panel and the infotainment screen are now separated, while the center console divides the cockpit and the front passenger’s space. The accessory panel on the driver’s side has also been swapped for a simpler card holder.

At the time of writing, there are no details about its powertrain, but Hyundai has confirmed that an outdoor-focused XRT variant will be available at launch. There will also be several exterior finishes to choose from, along with four interior color combinations.
That’s all we have for now, but in the meantime, let us know what you think about the Tucson’s new design. The comment section is yours.
