It was inevitable, really. Over a year after Jaguar confirmed that it was making the F-Type roadster based on the C-X16 concept car, the British carmaker has now confirmed that a hardtop coupe version will make its global debut on November 19, \"at a Los Angeles VIP customer and media event\" on the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
\"The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for the F-Type Coupe is a very significant moment,\" said Jaguar design director Ian Callum. \"We\'ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the F-Type Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports coupe is a uniquely satisfying process. And I know that both visually and dynamically, the F-Type Coupe raises the bar yet again.\"
According to Jaguar, the F-Type Coupe \"will deliver in production form the uncompromised design vision of the C-X16 concept.\"
Following its debut at the LA customer and media event, the F-Type Coupe will then go on display at both the LA Auto Show and the Tokyo Motor Show this month.
Though Jaguar didn\'t provide any details of the car\'s specifications, it\'s safe to assume that it will be offered with the same engine choices as the F-Type roadster, which are a 3.0-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8. The photo above also indicates that the car\'s occupants will have the semblance of open-air motoring thanks to the panoramic roof.
So, the C-X16 concept that was revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show will finally become real. Since convertibles are the natural progression of coupes, we can only wonder why Jaguar did it the other way around with the F-Type, producing the roadster first before coming up with the hardtop variant.
Which do you like better, the F-Type coupe or the F-Type roadster?
