Chinese car manufacturer Jetour has announced it has officially surpassed 500,000 unit sales of the T2 around the world. The milestone comes just 33 months after the midsize SUV’s global debut in 2023.

The T2 is Jetour’s best-selling vehicle globally and the brand’s second best-selling SUV in the Philippines, behind the smaller T1. Locally, it comes in five variants—the Beyond, Terrain, Panda Edition, Terminator, and Lightning i-DM PHEV (if you want to check out our review, click here). The first four variants mentioned are spec’d with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, while the latter has the 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Probably the first thing that attracts customers to the T2 is its looks. The SUV has a rugged and boxy appearance, borrowing design cues from the Land Rover Defender. As fellow Top Gear Philippines staff writer Billy Caluag points out: “The T2 Lightning i-DM still has its own character. The blocky Jetour letters up front announce that this is not a Land Rover. Those letters light up at night, too, so everyone knows exactly what you’re driving all the time.”

A wide stance with black overfenders, boxy headlights, and a large grille connects to the rugged-looking bumper. This thing definitely has road presence. Off-road is another thing many customers consider, too. This isn’t your traditional ladder frame 4x4, but lots of owners take it on light trails with no problem—specifically the AWD-equipped variants. The SUV also has selectable drive modes to help keep things manageable on rough terrain.

The manufacturer says that the 500,000 unit sales milestone reflects the growing confidence of drivers around the world in its product. It shows that markets are excited for products that evoke emotion and adventure.
