Last year, Kia got the most prestigious win at the World Car Awards with the EV9 taking home the World Car of the Year honors. This year, it’s more of the same for Kia, this time with the new EV3 getting the highest award.
The EV3 was chosen among 52 contenders from across the globe. The final shortlist consisted of two other cars, fellow Koewan car Hyundai Inster / Casper Electric and the new BMW X3. The winners were announced at the recently concluded New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).
To those who aren’t familiar, the EV3 is one of Kia’s newest introductions from 2024. The fully electric crossover does 201hp and 283Nm of torque and has a maximum range of 436km for the lower variant with the smaller battery and 605km for the higher trim with the bigger power unit. It has a spacious and comfortable-looking interior and comes equipped with the brand’s latest advanced driver-assist systems.

“It is an immense honor for everyone at Kia that the EV3 has been awarded the 2025 World Car of Year title,” said Kia president and CEO Ho Sung Song. “This award highlights Kia’s global leadership in providing design-led, technologically advanced, sustainable mobility solutions and how the EV3’s class-leading attributes redefine the user experience for customers worldwide.”
This year’s win is Kia’s third World Car of the Year Award in the program’s 21-year history, the first one being the Telluride in 2020. In total, Kia has won six awards.
