The Covenant Car Company (TCCCI) has been appointed as the official distributor of the MG brand in the Philippines, and the announcement was made during a launch event at Shangri-La, Bonifacio Global City. For those who aren’t aware, TCCCI is also the company that handles Chevrolet and Volvo in the country. Adding MG to its roster is a major development, and the buzz about the deal has been ongoing since early this year.
We aren’t strangers to the MG brand—we were actually lent a few test units by its erstwhile dealer here, and we’ve writen about some of its questionable marketing moves. We are also fans of the older MG roadsters from the ’30s and ’40s, having featured a number of them in the magazine in the past.
Anyway, MG is off to a fresh start under the TCCCI umbrella. Two MG models were revealed at the event today: the RX5 compact SUV and the ZS crossover SUV. The MG6 fastback wasn’t present (but will be available). Here are the introductory SRPs for each model:
MG RX5

*MT “Core” – P1,058,888
*AT “Style” – P1,228,888
MG 6

*AT “Alpha” – P1,068,888
*AT “Trophy” – P1,188,888
MG ZS

*MT “Style” – P818,888
*AT “Style” – P868,888
*AT “Alpha” – P998,888
Three more MG models will be arriving before the end of 2019, so stay tuned for that. TCCCI is also proud to announce the establishment of 16 independent full-service MG dealerships to handle all after-sales service requirements. Nine of these dealerships will be fully operational by the first half of next year. All brand-new MGs come with a five-year (or 100,000km) warranty, too.
Congratulations, TCCCI and MG Philippines!
