The Mitsubishi Destinator is set to debut in the Philippines very soon. Mitsubishi’s all-new SUV has been drawing interest with its 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, a suite of new connectivity features, and, of course, a coveted seven-seater cabin.
And now, the Japanese carmaker can add another highlight to the SUV’s repertoire, as the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) has awarded the Destinator a five-star safety rating.

In total, the Destinator amassed 77.27 points over four categories. It scored its highest individual rating in Adult Occupant Protection, achieving 34.69 points. The scores then dropped to 16.54 points in Child Occupant Protection, 15.02 points in Safety Assist assessments, and 11.02 points in Motorcycle Safety.

Despite the drop, the Destinator still gathered enough points to earn a five-star safety rating. That rating is also upheld by the mountain of safety features that come standard on all variants of the Destinator. Four airbags, an anti-lock braking system, pedestrian-protection features, and ISOFIX attachments, to name a few.
Higher variants of the SUV then come with more advanced driver-assistance systems, such as a lane-departure warning function and an automatic high-beam feature. In our recent ride-along with the Destinator, we also found an SOS button that can directly contact emergency services and roadside assistance in the event of a flat tire or a more severe road accident.
