Back in April, we reported about Subaru's Ascent concept SUV which debuted at the New York International Auto Show. Rather than spend years refining the concept, Subaru didn't waste any time making the three-row vehicle a reality. The production version will actually debut before the year ends—this time, at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
There's not a lot of info on it right now, save for the teaser photo above, but Subaru promises that it's "family-sized, versatile, and capable." Naturally, it'll be based on Subaru's new global platform. If the concept (pictured below) is anything to go by, then this will be a pretty sizable customer indeed; the vehicle that debuted in New York measured 5,050mm long, 1,989mm wide, and 1,839mm high. If you don't have a tape measure handy, those numbers put the Ascent in Ford Everest territory.
We also know that the concept was powered by a turbocharged boxer engine, which will likely make its way to the production line. We're hoping the big 21in tires stick around as well. Unfortunately, this SUV will only be sold in North America starting next year. Stay tuned for more photos and the full specs once they've been revealed.
