Suzuki Philippines has finally issued a statement regarding the all-new Jimny’s recall in Japan, and according to the company, local owners of its popular off-roader have nothing to worry about.
“The recall campaign for the all-new Jimny is for Japan domestic market only,” Suzuki Philippines says. “This does not affect, in any way, the model that is being offered by Suzuki Philippines, Inc.”
The recall in Japan stems from issues with the 2019 Suzuki Jimny’s fuel lines. According to a statement on its Japanese website, the car manufacturer says the fuel lines found in affected units may be deformed by heat, engine vibration, or contact with the steering shaft. This, the company says, can lead to fuel leaks.
Units under the Japanese recall are those manufactured from May 11, 2018 to March 12, 2019 with chassis numbers JB64W-100092 to JB64W-121516. A total of 21,248 units are affected by the issue, Suzuki says.
It’s good to hear that our Jimnys are unaffected. Now all we need to do is find the money to buy one for ourself.
