For some, the ultimate thrill might be an adrenaline-packed ride on-board a world-class roller coaster. The twists and turns and the ups and downs at break-neck speed are enough to satisfy just about anyone's thirst for the extreme. Car nuts, however, might find this a bit tame.
Well, tame compared to a flying lap inside a supercar around a world-famous racetrack like the Nurburgring, at least. This is what's in store for some lucky patrons courtesy of Jaguar. The company is set to take fans around the 20.83km track aboard the all-new F-Type SVR.
As many are aware, the SVR variant is the more potent version of the already scorchingly hot British coupe. With a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 capable of a rousing 567hp and 700Nm, the shapely two-door has a top speed of 322kph and can reach 100kph from rest in a scant 3.5 seconds. On a track like the Ring, this should be akin to riding the most extreme amusement-park attraction.
Of course, Jaguar understands that blasting around a track like the Green Hell at silly speeds is easier said than done. This is why they are taking pains to ensure that safety is of the utmost importance. The F-Type SVR has been outfitted by the Special Vehicle Operations group with a roll cage, Recaro racing seats, and safety harnesses for all occupants. Moreover, passengers must don a full-on racing suit, helmet, and HANS (head and neck support) device.
To make sure that the once-in-a-lifetime moment is etched in eternity, an on-board camera will film each and every moment around the track. Put it this way: This is the ultimate selfie moment for car nuts.
Jaguar will be offering passenger laps in the F-Type SVR for 16 consecutive weekends beginning this week until October. The price: 295 euros per lap. Yep, that's P15,500 per hot lap. The whole experience is said to have a duration of approximately 30 minutes (we imagine this includes some briefing, getting secured in the passenger seat, and doing souvenir selfies).
Of course, you need to book your turn here. If you’re into cars, this is one ride you shouldn’t pass up.
