This weekend the Bonifacio High Street become a region of Deustchland as it hosts the Mabuhay Germany celebration. As you might have surmised, it is a festival of everything good about Germany. If you guessed sausages and beer, you're correct and on your way to a good time.
But another good thing about Germany, and the reason you're reading this on our website, is cars. It's hard to argue that this European nation makes the best automobiles in the world. To see what Mabuhay Germany has to offer, Top Gear Philippines was invited by Asian Carmakers Corporation, the official distributor of the ultimate driving machines in the country, to the launch of the festival.
We were treated to all the sausages, beer, liver pate and sauerkraut (an acquired taste) we could stuff ourselves with. The German jazz band Hot Brownies provided the music for the evening, their tunes intermingling with the German conversations that could be heard that night.
The festival will be until today, October 9. Be sure to catch the car displays, especially BMW's, near Fully Booked. We don't know if the tall and leggy models will still be there, but the BMW booth will showcase the brand's long history as a company, feature interactive kiosks where you can customize the BMW you've been dreaming of (we wish there were M models though), and a picture puzzle where you get to test how well you know your BMW's design. For those who really like the brand, the cool merchandise like t-shirts, bags, watches, golf bags and the like will be on sale throughout the festival.
Oh, and the cappuccino they have on sale is really good.
Other things to do are a scavenger hunt and table football competitions, a bazaar of German-made products, and enjoying German food offered by Dusit Thani Hotel Manila, The German Club, Brumm Wein, Giger’s Pastries and Wursty-Wursty, Russian Cookie House and Katzer's Gourmet.
