TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Frankfurt preview: Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale

Lamborghini has revealed the "super sports car" it announced last August that it will unveil the Frankfurt Motor Show and it is based on the successful race car from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, which the Italian carmaker calls as "the world’s fastest single-make series."

Dubbed by Lamborghini as the most extreme Gallardo ever, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale carries practically everything that the race car has. It extensively uses aluminum and carbon composite for the car's construction and its components, including the manually variable rear spoiler and the removable engine hood with the quick-release system.

The Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale sports a "Rosso Mars" finish that is accentuated by a matte-black finish on the large rear spoiler, the engine hood and the front air intakes. The forged wheels are painted in high-gloss black, a color that is also available on the roof as an option. The rocker panel covers, rear diffuser and outside mirror housings are made of carbon fiber polished to a high gloss. The brake calipers are also finished in red--a first on a Lamborghini. Besides the "Rosso Mars" finish, the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale is also available upon request in "Grigio Telesto" or "Bianco Monocerus".

The black-and-red theme is consistent even inside the car, with Alcantara leather widely used on the underside of the dashboard, the central part of the seat cushion and the backrest. Black Alcantara with contrasting red top-stitching is used to finish the other parts of the interior while the steering wheel is upholstered in black suede and also features red top-stitching. Carbon fiber is used in the interior as well, particularly on the door panels, the monocoque racing seats and the center console cover.

A V10 powerplant that produces 570hp and 540Nm of twist, and is mated to the robotized e-gear six-speed transmission controlled by steering wheel paddles powers the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale. This pairing lets the car sprint from zero to 100kph in just 3.4 seconds while 200kph is reached in only 10.4 seconds. The car's top speed? Lamborghini says 320kph.

Lamborghini's permanent all-wheel drive system helps to tame the Super Trofeo while eight-pot front and four-pot rear aluminum caliper brakes keep the car in check.

"The Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale is a highly concentrated driving machine offering a truly stunning driving experience with breathtaking cornering speeds and fast, immediate response," Lamborghini said in a statement. "Its road manners are always precise, stable and completely safe."

According to Lamborghini, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale will only be produced in a limited run of 150 numbered units.
