Hyundai Asia Resources, the authorized distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, launched the updated Genesis Coupe during the third round of the 2012 Lateral Drift Championship Series held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila last weekend.

As we mentioned in November 2011 when the Korean carmaker first revealed the new look of the Genesis Coupe, its front fascia echoes that of its smaller sibling, the Veloster, and ties it to the brand's fluidic-sculpture design language. In addition, the upright nose now houses a larger grille, giving the two-door coupe a more dynamic face to complement the twin hood accents and the bolder HID headlight design.

While the updated Genesis Coupe sports an adventurous facade, its interior boasts luxurious features, with a sleek central console that houses not just a 5.6-inch display and an Infinity sound system but also a triple gauge cluster that informs the driver of the car's acceleration, turbo and oil-temperature readings.

The biggest update to the Genesis Coupe, however, is found under the hood. The new 2.0-liter, in-line-four Theta engine now has a twin turbocharger, bumping up its output to 256hp, while the 3.8-liter Lambda RS V6 puts out 299hp. Depending on the variant, the new Genesis Coupe is equipped with either a six-speed manual transmission or a paddle shift-equipped, eight-speed automatic gearbox, with the two additional gears improving the car's fuel efficiency.
