Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, through its corporate social-responsibility arm HARI Foundation (HFI), recently unveiled its second HARI EcoVan.
Born out of HFI's partnership with the Haribon Foundation, the country's pioneering crusader for nature conservation and eco-stewardship, the HARI EcoVan is the second fully customized classroom-on-wheels in the country. Designed to promote biodiversity, the EcoVan features a cargo deck that has been configured into a small classroom with a built-in library, audio-visual system with a large screen for film showing and AVP presentations, interactive games, a booth for art workshops and storytelling, and a display for Haribon merchandise and information materials.
The second HARI EcoVan will be deployed to the Visayas region to widen the reach of HFI and Haribon's green advocacy. A third HARI EcoVan is reportedly in the works and will be deployed to the Mindanao region sometime in 2013.
The very first HARI EcoVan was unveiled and turned over to Haribon during the latter's 40th anniversary celebration on Earth Day last April 22. To date, it has visited five elementary schools in Makati, Quezon City, and Marikina with over 1,900 students benefiting from the biodiversity-learning sessions given by the Haribon Foundation's training and education team. Other schools in Metro Manila are also being lined up for the next batch of learning sessions.
