Motor Image Racing Team (MIRT) dominated the podium at the New Zealand leg of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC).

Reigning champ Cody Crocker and co-driver Ben Atkinson of the MIRT led the six-stage race around Paparao and Whangarei at the Rally of Whangarei last weekend, while fellow MIRT members Emma Gilmour and co-driver Rhianon Smyth landed on the third spot. The second place was snagged by Katusuhiko Taguchi and co-driver Mark Stacey from MRF Tyres.

Crocker's victory last Sunday allowed him to maintain his lead on the APRC points' table. It also increased his chances of bagging his fourth APRC title.

"It's been a fantastic day and we'll certainly keep on the attack, although I must say that (today) was certainly no easier than Day One. We made a few changes to the setup of the car and that improved our speed," Crocker said.

Drivers from the Singapore-based MIRT are racing with the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. Motor Image is the distributor of Subaru vehicles in select Southeast Asian markets, including the Philippines.

"I'm really pleased with the teamwork between the new drivers. The new rally car has also performed well to contribute to today's good result. Cody has done well to maintain his lead at the top of the APRC table and the girls, too, have put on an impressive performance. I am happy with the team and am looking forward to more progress in the APRC, " MIRT team principal Glenn Tan said in a statement.
