You may be familiar with Green GSM, the company behind the cyan-colored electric taxis driving around the metro. If you aren’t yet, there’s a good chance you will be very soon, because Green GSM has recently partnered with 75 transport companies and is expected to deploy 18,497 more electric taxis across the country with phased operations starting this year.

The move is part of Green GSM’s regional expansion strategy, following the initial deployment of 2,500 taxis in collaboration with Xentro Group. The 75 transport companies in this new partnership span across Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Cavite, Pampanga, Bacolod, Batangas, Baguio, and Ozamiz.

As expected, the vehicles to be supplied to these companies come from VinFast, specifically the Herio Green and Limo Green models. Both these vehicles are optimized for ride-hailing and passenger transport operations.

Green GSM’s business model combines its standardized operating platform with locally managed fleet operations and driver networks. Green GSM says that this structure enables consistent service standards and scalable development while remaining adjustable to local market conditions, and also creates a pathway for large-scale electric mobility adoption.

“Electrifying transportation is no longer a future trend, but an ongoing transition already taking place across major urban centers worldwide,” says GSM global CEO Nguyen Van Thanh. “Southeast Asia stands out as one of the most dynamic regions for this shift.

“Scaling electric mobility requires more than technology. It requires operating models that can maintain consistency across markets while adapting to local conditions,” he adds. “Through its platform and partnership approach, Green GSM aims to advance electric mobility practically and sustainably while maintaining unified service standards across the ecosystem.”
