On November 26, 2018, a group of student-leaders from St. Scholastica’s College Manila was invited to the launch of the MFPA Center for Leadership Excellence, named after Hyundai Asia Resources president and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo.

During the forum, which had the theme “Future of Everything: Shaping young leaders in the age of digital disruption,” Agudo and a panel of guest speakers tackled the challenges of becoming transformational leaders in the modern age and adopting the right mindset for leadership.

The guest speakers were female executives Golda Roldan, managing director of J. Walter Thompson Manila; Mattel Soliven-Celestino, ABS-CBN head of digital marketing; and Valenice Balace, product manager at JG Summit Holdings.

Ms. Celestino emphasized the value of asking the right questions, urging students to practice curiosity and the willingness to learn. Ms. Balace discussed how data can be mined and used to produce solutions and effective interventions. Ms. Roldan urged the participants to cultivate creativity in their studies and their future roles as leaders.

As Ms. Agudo said to her fellow Scholasticans: “The Center of Leadership Excellence is your path to ‘BEST’—Breed of Empowered Scholasticans of Tomorrow. The future is in the hands of the BEST.”

“I believe that ora et labora (prayer and work) is even more relevant in this age,” she added. “It is our compass to navigate the age of digital disruption as transformational leaders.”
