'Tis the season for giving, and Mahindra Philippines really got into the spirit this year. As part of its corporate social responsibility program, the Indian carmaker donated 50 bicycles to Maruhat National High School and 500 slippers to the Elementary School of Sapang Kawayan in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija. The project was carried out earlier this month in partnership with the Rotary Club of Meycauayan

The goal of the project was to assist students from Sitio Maruhat and Sapang Kawayan, two depressed areas of Gapan City. The students endure daily walks of up to 10kms on dirt roads due to lack of access to proper transportation. The bicycles were provided as means of sustainable transport, while the slippers will replace the students' worn-out footwear.

“At Mahindra, we rise to lift others,” said Mahindra Philippines senior marketing manager Kristoff Arcega in a statement. “While it is common knowledge that Mahindra is an active partner in our society providing the official transport of the Philippine National Police, our involvement in our community does not end there. We aim to do more by participating in activities that have a direct impact to our countrymen. This is just a start, rest assured that there will be more as there are endless possibilities to help assist our people.”

Are you guys doing any special activities to help others this holiday season? Tells us about them in the comments.
