TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Mitsubishi’s Okazaki plant reaches 5-M production milestone

Mitsubishi's Okazaki plant near Nagoya, Japan, has produced its 5,000,000th vehicle, an Outlander plug-in hybrid, 37 years after it began assembling vehicles in 1977.

Located next to the Japanese carmaker's global research and development center, the 425,000sqm Okazaki plant is one of Mitsubishi's three vehicle production bases in Japan with nearly 1,600 workers building the Outlander, the Outlander PHEV and the ASX.

According to Mitsubishi, the milestone unit has been turned over to Okazaki City "to be used as a self-sufficient, EV-based, 4WD emergency vehicle in case of a natural disaster."
