Mitsubishi has been on a roll over the past few years. While understandably, newer offerings like the Xpander MPV play a big part in pushing the brand and its sales figures forward, older models like the Montero Sport midsize SUV continue to rake in recognition for the Japanese carmaker.
The Mitsubishi Montero Sport, launched back in 2016, has won big during this year’s Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards (AFPCA). The vehicle was named the 2018 SUV of the Year, even two years after its Philippine introduction.
Meanwhile, the Xpander—launched during the first quarter of this year—managed to drive away with the ‘Best Design’ award under the MPV category. With its futuristic aesthetic and utilitarian nature, we can see why.
Finally, the Mitsubishi Pajero won the event’s Best Engine Performance award in the large SUV category, thanks to its potent 3.2-liter turbocharged engine.
“We are very delighted to be recognized once again in the AFPCA. These awards are testaments of the market’s unrelenting trust and continued patronage to the Mitsubishi Motors brand,” said Taichi Nakajima, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Mitsubishi Motor Philippines. “We shall strive further and continue to offer innovative and cutting-edge vehicles to our most valued customers as we live up with the Mitsubishi spirit.”
Impressive stuff, more so considering how high the level of local competition has reached in recent years. Can Mitsubishi’s offerings continue their winning streak heading into 2019?
