It’s been a good year so far for the Philippine automotive industry, and it looks like the upward trend continues. The latest report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association is out, and the sales numbers continue to grow.

There were 40,271 vehicles sold in May, bringing the year-to-date total to 187,191. Year on year, that’s a healthy 12.7% increase. Of course, leading the pack is still Toyota Motor Philippines with 86,257 vehicles sold and a 46.47% market share. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines is also still at second with 35,146, and Ford Philippines at third with 12,241.

May’s numbers were up 7.9% from April with its 37,314 total. Comparing it to May of last year, the figures were also up by 5.5% from 38,177.

“Improvements in the supply and good consumer demand, coupled with an increase in automotive financial schemes and extensive sales activities, helped boost sales on a MOM basis,” said CAMPI president Atty. Rommel Gutierrez.
