The 2025 Shell Mekaniko League has officially concluded, and after months of intense competition, Mark Anthony Calimag and Charlie Sandoval have emerged as this season’s overall champions. Each of them received P200,000 in prizes and will go on a fully paid trip to Malaysia to catch the MotoGP at the Sepang Circuit.
This year’s Mekaniko League saw over 2,000 mechanics from 26 different provinces test their skills in live repair challenges and other competitions. Hailing from Quezon City, Calimag rose above his class as the winner of the Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champions. Caloocan City’s Charlie Sandoval was then crowned top mechanic in the Shell Advance Masters division.

Throughout the season, the contestants also went through a TESDA-certified training program led by Shell Pilipinas. While Calimag and Sandoval got the prizes, all mechanics went home with more knowledge and sharper skills—enough for NC I and NC II certifications.

The 2025 league saw significant growth compared to last year’s competition, which featured only five regional tournaments. This year also marked the first time that motorcycle and car mechanics participated in the same competition.

More than anything, the league is for the development and pride of Filipino mechanics. “The Mekaniko League is one of Shell Pilipinas’ key programs that highlights the skills and dedication of Filipino mechanics,” said Shell Pilipinas vice president and general manager for lubricants Jackie Famorca.
“Through our partnership with Tesda, we are equipping them with the right training and tools to help them adapt to the ever-evolving auto industry.”
