Ken Block's Manila trip gets derailed

Sorry, hooning fans
by Vernon B. Sarne | Oct 19, 2010

We have some bad news but also some really good news. First, the bad news: Ken Block will definitely not make it to the Philippines this year. According to DC Shoes Philippines brand manager Dino Gilladoga--whom we met over the weekend at the Ford Expo in the Mall Of Asia complex--the project that would have brought Block to Manila was temporarily shelved after the DC Shoes executive who had been overseeing it, left the company. Gilladoga, however, said that they would continue to push for it for next year.

Sorry, Ken Block fans.

Now, for a bit of positive news: DC Shoes' official Ken Block Collection is hitting Philippine stores starting tomorrow, October 20. We saw the items at the Ford Expo and we can honestly say they're pretty awesome--if also pretty expensive (a pair of sneakers could set you back as much as P5,000). Aside from the shoes, the merchandise includes shirts, hooded jackets and caps. Check the photo gallery below featuring the Ken Block Collection.

So, while we all patiently wait for Mr. Block to visit the country, we can make do with his DC Shoes apparel for now--bedecked with his now-famous No. 43 and the Monster World Rally Team logo. DC Shoes products are available at TriNoma Mall, Gateway Mall, Eastwood Libis, Festival Mall, Ayala Center Cebu, SM City Cebu, and Robinsons Galleria (from November 2010). They're also available at R.O.X., Res|Toe|Run, Shoe Salon, Bratpack, Rustan's Shangri-La Plaza, Olympic Village ATC, Toby's Sports MOA, and Urban Athletics.
