A demonstration driver for Mercedes-Benz is now the Guinness World Record holder for the longest powerslide when he drove a car sideways for 2,308 meters, beating the previous world record by 394 meters.
Behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, Mauro Calo completed almost eight laps on a 360-degree circle of tarmac to break the world record at the Mercedes-Benz World event in Brooklands in the United Kingdom.
Based on the video below, it seems like only a blown rear right tire prevented him from continuing his record-setting run.
"When Mauro approached us to hold his record breaking attempt on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World, we were happy to offer him the support," said Mercedes-Benz Cars' commercial operations director Andrew Mallery. "He has been a valuable member of the driving experience team for several years and is a respected driver in the industry, so there was no doubt he would achieve his aim."
