While we're waiting for the all-new Mitsubishi Mirage to reach our shores and go on sale in November, the compact hatchback is already on sale in Thailand.
Developed under a revolutionary concept that fulfills the needs of emerging markets as an entry-level car and eco-conscious advanced markets with its environmental performance, the Mirage will be made at a brand-new factory at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand's Laem Chabang Plant, the largest Mitsubishi Motors plant outside of Japan.
"I am pleased to present the Mirage first in Thailand," said Mitsubishi Motors president Osamu Masuko. "The Mirage is an all-new compact car focused on premium fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions just right for the times where demand for superior fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness are increasing all over the world…After Thailand, the Mirage will be exported to ASEAN countries, then gradually make its way around the world."
According to Mitsubishi, the Thai-market Mirage will be equipped with a 1.2-liter MIVEC engine that delivers a fuel efficiency of 22km/L, placing it among the best in its class and above the Thai government's requirements for "eco-car" certification. Mitsubishi hopes to sell around 2,500 units of the Mirage per month in Thailand.
How many units can Mitsubishi possibly sell here?
